Disposal of Garbage Reminders

Hello neighbors!

As we continue to look for ways to ensure our garbage area is for our residents only, we do want to remind everyone about proper “garbage etiquette”. This is especially important as there is a normal increase in garbage and recycling during the holiday season.

The large plastic bins with covers are for recyclable materials only. Do not put garbage in these containers. Recyclables must be loose (not in a bag), and all boxes must be broken down flat.

Non-recyclable contents in large boxes must be removed, placed in garbage bags, and put into the metal dumpsters. Boxes too large for the recycling containers can be leaned up vertically against the back wall in an orderly fashion.

Do not leave appliances or electronics in the garbage area. Lexington provides free electronics recycling for city residents at 1305 Versailles Road. They accept a wide variety of products, including microwaves, televisions, and computers. For more information, and a more complete list of items they will accept, check out https://www.lexingtonky.gov/electronics-recycling.

When putting garbage in the large metal bins, try to toss bags toward the back of the bin. The bin has appeared full because bags have piled up by the sliding doors, even though there is more room behind those bags.

It is important to stress that not following this proper etiquette requires us to pay for boxes to be broken down and the area to be cleared out. This is an expense we will all bear.

Thank you all in advance for helping us keep Citation Pointe a place we can be proud of!
